Database 1

What is data? What is a database?

A database describes a part of the real world (often called mini-world) which is of interest for some specific purpose and for a particular set of users. The data contained in the database must be as consistent as possible and readily available whenever the user performs a search,

Database 1 provides the fundamentals of relational databases: from the conceptual and logical design of a database, to the implementation of applications of databases on the web. Students will use the acquired skills to design, implement, and manage a relational database application.

The student will learn how to carry out a requirements analysis of the problem and design the conceptual model of the database using the Entity-Relationship schema and transform it into a relational database. The student will also be able to use fundamental and advanced elements of the Structured Query Language (SQL) to implement and query the database in the correct way.
